Support for Older People

mealsupp

St. John’s Church employs a Support Worker for Older People – Catriona Foster – who has an office base at The Crossway.  Some of the support given includes:

  • Friendship visits by volunteers
  • Occasional social events
  • Help with transport
  • Prayer and spiritual support
  • Help with practical needs

On the 3rd Thursday every month, a service of Holy Communion is held at St. John’s Church at 10.30 am.  This is specifically arranged with the needs of older people in mind.  Transport can be provided and the service is followed by tea/coffee and home-made cakes.

We also host a Monday morning ‘drop in surgery’ for the over 70s, where you can pop in for coffee, a chat, and help with any form filling or phone calls that are proving tricky.

If you are an older person or someone who cares for an older person, you are welcome to call in at The Crossway where you can access useful information and make known any specific needs.
